Featured Galleries: Air Raid Precaution Drill

image here

During the Second World War the Japanese bombing of Calcutta, Madras, and Colombo, between 1941-44, led to fears of a Japanese air attack on Delhi. Evacuation and emergency drills were practiced in various public and educational buildings in the city. This gallery shows Red Cross and St. John’s Ambulance Brigade volunteers demonstrating escape and evacuation procedures in the case of airstrike and fire in the year 1941.
