It is still a common sight to see itinerant vendors in Delhi. While some have their stationary places of operation like barbers, there are many who provide door-to-door services. Itinerant kalaiwallas, who give a tin coating to copper and brass utensils were once frequently seen. Now customers often have to go to the Old City for such services. Another less frequently seen door-to-door service providers are kaan-naak chedne walla (ear-nose piercer), dhunkar (cotton carders). But with the changing trends and aspirations, both the vendors and the clienteles have taken recourse to alternate professions or products respectively.
