Description
Laksmi Narayan Mandhir's construction started in 1933 and was funded by the industrialist and philantrhopist Baldeo Das Birla and his family, giving the temple its other name "Birla Temple". The temple was opened to the public in 1939 and inaugrated by Mahatma Gandhi. Laksmi Narain Temple was first in a series of "Birla Temples" built by the Birlas across India.
