Outside view of Anglo Sanskrit Victoria Jubilee Sr. Sc. School
Description
Anglo Sanskrit Victoria Jubilee Sr. Sc. School is located in Daryaganj and managed by Dharampal Satyapal Charitable Trust. The school was founded in 1869 at a haveli donated by Lala Chunamal. It is a heritage site acknowledged by the DDA. It was built in the neo-classical style associated with the Victorian period. The school has also had historic association with politics. Two of its teachers, Master Amir Chand and Avadh Bihari were hanged in 1915 for a bomb attack in chandini chowk. Following the attack, the government cut funds for the school. It was then supported by another public personality, Lala Amba Prasad, who then donated his Daryaganj haveli, which is where the present school stands.
