Title:
Rides at Appu Ghar
Description
An evening scene at Appu Ghar. Appu Ghar was India's first amusement park built in 1984 to mark the 1982 Asian Games. The amuseument park was named after its mascot appu, the elephant. Much to the dismay of Delhi residents the amusement park was closed on Feburary 2008 after a supreme court order approved the government's decision to lend the land to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's Pragati Maidan Metro Station. Earlier, the Indian Trade Promotion Organization had asked Appu Ghar to vacate the land that was leased from the organization at three-yearly basis.
