Description
The Jantar Mantar in Delhi consists of thirteen astronomical instruments [yantras) built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. Visible in the photograph: Mishra Yantra (Mixed Yantra) in the background used for measuring the length of the longest day and shortest day of the year. On the right the center part of the Samarat Yantra is visible. This instrument was used as an hour sundial.
